Old man winter isn’t ready to hang up his heavy coat just yet, as cold air will be making its way through the air over the next couple days.

Cody Lindsey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service out of Mobile, said a cold front is pushing its way from the plains toward the lower Mississippi Valley and coastal region, and is expected to his late today and early Thursday.

Before the cold front hits, Lindsey said it’s going to be “quite warm and muggy” with a potential of fog this morning.

“Then, the temperatures will be quite warm (today),” he said.

Lindsey said as of 1 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature reached 80 degrees, and it could be the case again today.

There’s a chance of showers tonight before midnight, then rain will fall afterward, according to the National Weather Service. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Rain will fall before noon on Thursday, where the high is slated to be 58 degrees.

Lindsey said an increase in the north wind will yield lower temps in the 30s Thursday night, where it’s expected to be 33 degrees.

With the colder weather tomorrow will also come a 70 percent chance of rain.

Lindsey said the rain chances will decrease as drier air moves in the area.

The weather for Friday is partly sunny with a high of 52 degrees, and a low of 39 at night. On Saturday, there will be a 30 percent chance of rain and a high of 58.
